The department site sat slightly apart from central brand, researchers needed proper lab pages, and accessibility audits kept failing on rigid templates. Politics aside, students and partners deserved clearer paths.

What we focused on

  • Custom build: Semantic templates for people, labs, and projects, no generic page builder markup.
  • Publications: Structured imports and manual overrides, ORCID-friendly where applicable.
  • A11y: Automated checks plus manual passes on navigation and forms, audit trail for procurement.

Outcome

Passed renewed accessibility review and gave researchers faster publish paths.
