Situation

Traffic spiked hard on lineup drops, sponsor placement was contractual, and volunteer editors occasionally broke layouts at the worst time. The stack had to survive attention spikes without turning edits into a dev ticket.

What we focused on

  • Bespoke templates: Programme grid with stage and time, structured data for apps and SEO.
  • Sponsor system: Locked regions for contractual placements, no accidental deletion.
  • Scale: Caching and edge-friendly assets for announcement day spikes.

Outcome

Stable site on announcement traffic and faster programme fixes during the event weekend.
